Award-winning architectural and interior design business
At Domicile Architectural & Interior Design, we provide a comprehensive architectural design package, from initial design ideas to completion of the project. We are a small practice, dealing mainly with traditional buildings where a sympathetic understanding of the building, its setting and above all the customer's needs are important. We see our role is to picture those aims on paper and make them happen.
We have a hands on approach to supervising work on site and work to build a relationship between customer and builder to make the work is carried out efficiently and in accordance with the customer’s aims. We will expect to use the standard form of JCT contract as the interface between the builder and the customer and we are experienced in administering contracts successfully through regular site attendance and liaison contact with the builder and the local council.
Over the years, we have won a number of local and national awards. We have a long-term experience working with Bromley Borough Council and in 1998, we won a design award from that council for work in Keston to convert a locally listed Victorian building in commercial use into luxury apartments. During 1998, we had carried out work on a number of projects in Bromley Lane and Bickley Park Road, dealing with new luxury dwellings and extensions. Below are the details about our awards.
Evening Standard Award 1994 - Best New Development
1993-94 - Refurbishment and development of Victorian mansion into 9 apartments and further 12 new builds on same site - Conversion from institutional to residential use - Location: Dene Park, Tonbridge.
Evening Standard Award 1995 - Best New Luxury House
1994 - New house - Demolition and building of new detached dwelling - Three floor and basement containing double garage and billiard room - Location: Dene Park, Tonbridge.
Royal Tunbridge Wells Civic Society - Conservation Award
1995 - Removal and reinstatement of traditional shop fronts and total refurbishment of 3 derelict premises - 68, 70, 70A, 72 High Street, Tunbridge Wells.

Royal Tunbridge Wells Civic Society & Tunbridge Wells Borough Council - Shopfront Award
1996 - Reinstatement of traditional shop front and refurbishment of premises into shop and apartment above 66 High Street, Tunbridge Wells.

1997 - Demolition and rebuilding of premises and reinstatement of traditional shop fronts. 1 & 3 Chapel Place and 2 Mount Sion, Tunbridge Wells.

1998 - Refurbishment of commercial premises and reinstatement of stone façade. Two-storey extension behind. Location: 44 High St, Tunbridge Wells.

London Borough of Bromley - Design Award for Conversion & Refurbishment
1999 - Return of Victorian mansion from commercial to residential use and division into 9 apartments and some new build with underground garages. Location: Hast Hill, Hayes, Kent.

Sussex Heritage Trust Award – Highly commended
2003 - Conversion of Victorian coach house and estate buildings into several office units and conference centre near Horsham, West Sussex.
Sussex Heritage Trust Award – Small scale residential award
2003 - Conversion of farm buildings into 4 dwellings and including one new detached dwelling near Tunbridge Wells, East Sussex. Rebuilding and conversion of traditional oast kilns.
Our more recent work
New entrance gates
1998 - Installation of new entrance gates to the large country house. Our work included the design and supervision of the construction. Laying of handmade bricks and natural stone. Location: Near Tunbridge Wells.
Dwelling extension
2006 - Extend dwelling to include large indoor swimming pool in same style as house which had previously been designed by domicile in 1994. Our work included design and supervision. Location: Tonbridge, Kent.
New dwelling
2006 - New dwelling with detached double garage with over 6,000 sq ft floor space. Our work included design, negotiation of all consents and supervision of works. Location: Otford, Sevenoaks, Kent.
Replacement dwelling
2008 - Replacement dwelling – New dwelling on 3 floors with basement, underground swimming pool, staff accommodation, underground swimming pool and tennis court. Ongoing project for construction spring 2009. Our work included design and negotiation of local authority consents. Location: Crowborough, East Sussex.
Domestic dwelling extension
2008 - Partial demolition and extension to domestic dwelling to double the size of existing house. Ongoing for completion in March 2009. Our work included the design, negotiation of all local authority consents and supervision of the builder. Location: Sevenoaks, Kent.
Design of apartment blocks
2000 - Design of apartment blocks and associated buildings in the style of a Victorian country house and forming total of 22 dwellings in Tonbridge, Kent.
